Excellent story as always. There are a number of grace notes blended into the narrative - the description of how Stella’s husband keeps hold of her when they’re out together was my favorite. But the way you present Stella’s complicit devotion, the wholehearted (if not always quite eager) way she opens herself to her husband’s remaking of her is what keeps and concentrates my attention.
Unrelatedly, for your ‘faith based’ duology, perhaps the phrase ‘Earthly Worship’ might serve as a title. It’s part of the vassal’s vow to the lord - ‘I do become your liege man of life and limb and of earthly worship and faith and truth…’
Thank you for this lovely and detailed feedback. I love hearing what particular aspects readers liked in a story and I'm hungry and grateful to hear it every time.
I'll save this vow to ponder for inspiration. Funnily enough I did think about using "earthly" — I've been flirting with the idea of the base and the holy, the depraved and the divine.
