Today I am launching a brand new addition to my newsletter: Substack chat for subscribers.
This is a conversation space in the Substack app that I set up exclusively for my subscribers — Substack describes it as kind of like a group chat or live hangout. I can start a chat thread with a question (“What do you want to see me write next?” for example) and subscribers can reply directly.
This might not go anywhere but I wanted to test the feature out because hearing from readers has sustained so much of my writing over the years. I’m hoping that the chat will be another avenue for getting in touch with me.
If it takes off, turning on the functionality that lets any subscriber start a chat thread could be really interesting, but for now, I’ll post short prompts and thoughts and you can jump into the discussion if you’re so inspired. I’m curious to see whether there could be some kind of interactive erotica in live-time that could work via the chat…we’ll have to see.
To join our chat, you can download the Substack app, available for both iOS and Android. New chats are sent via the app, not email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens.
If you have a Substack profile/account, you can also access the chat from your desktop if you’re logged in. Join the chat!
As a bonus, everyone who participates in the chat will get a very special sneak peek at a story from Wicked Bites. I’ll have to figure out how to distribute it so stay tuned.
So…let’s see how this goes?
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is now available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
